Dag Henning Paulsen

Dag Henning, born in 1961, has served 11 years as a fighter pilot in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, stationed at Bodø Main Air Station in Northern Norway. Has almost 2000 flight hours in the F-16, and experience from all levels of fighter operations, including duty as Squadron Commander. Broad experience from planning and execution of military exercises and operations. Project officer during the development and operational evaluation of the Penguin Mk3 Anti Shipping Missile for the F-16. Several years as military advisor to Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt (military research institute).

12 years as pilot in the Scandinavian Airlines, holding a JAR Airline Traffic Pilot License on the MD80, Boeing 767 and Boeing 737. Flight experience from domestic, international and intercontinental operations. Has held several administrative positions in SAS, ranging from instructor duty to chief pilot on the Boeing 767. Project leader for the operational integration between Braathens and Scandinavian Airlines. Currently chief of staff and strategic advisor to the VP Chief Operating Officer of SAS Norge.

Professional Experience

2006-2008 SAS Norge (changed name from SAS Braathens in 2007)
SAS is Scandinavia’s largest commercial Airline with more than 3000 employees and a turn over at more than 10 billion NOK.
Position: Chief of staff to the COO and part time pilot on the Boeing 737.
Duties: Coordinate the COO leader group, perform strategic planning, conduct operational analyses, act as project leader, and part time pilot.

2004-2006 SAS Braathens
Position: Member of the Project management team and later project leader of the Operational Integration project, part time pilot.
Duties: Planning and execution of project Operational Integration between Braathens and Scandinavian Airlines. This work involved 2500 flight and cabin crew members, 200 ground personnel, and 58 aircraft. The project had major logistical, operational and legality challenges, and required approximately 18 months of planning and 7 months of execution.

1996-2004 Scandinavian Airlines Oslo Base
Position: Pilot, instructor, deputy Chief pilot and Chief pilot.
Duties: First officer on the following aircraft: MD80, Boeing 767 and Boeing 737. Instructor duty involved training of new pilots in Scandinavian Airlines, and Crew Resource Management training. Deputy chief pilot and Chief pilot on Boeing 767 with responsibility for 200 pilots.

1993-1996 Forsvarets Forskningsinstitutt (FFI)
FFI is the Norwegian Armed Forces own research institute (Norwegian Defense Research Establishment)
Position: Project officer (rank as Major).
Duties: Analyses and consultant work for Kampflyanalysen 96 (Combat Aircraft Analyses). The task of the project was to advice the Norwegian Air Force on the optimal choice for the F-5 replacement due in the year 2000. Studies involved in depth analyses of the F-16N (evolved version), F-18C, Rafale C, JAS-39 Gripen and the Eurofighter. Tools used included both technical, tactical and strategic analyses based on advanced computer simulations. Extensive contact with governments and manufactures during the whole process. Writer and co-writer of several research papers, including a study of the Russian Air Forces in 1994.

1982-1993 Royal Norwegian Air Force
Position: Pilot, all positions from regular line pilot to Squadron Commander, 331 Squadron. Four years as executive officer.
Duties: F-16 pilot, training missions, operational missions including intercepting Soviet aircraft and inspecting Soviet ships. Qualified as mission commander, squadron instructor, Air to Air refueling instructor and more. Involved in planning and execution of many national and international military exercises, including Red Flag at Nellis AF Base, USA. As Executive Officer was responsible for the operational status of 331 squadron, including annual flight training programs and pilot qualifications. Six years as project officer for the Penguin Mk3 missile. Five years as official display pilot on the F-16.

2004-present Participating in designing and improving the production process in SAS Norge in order to improve performance and several Key Performance Indicators, specifically punctuality, productivity and handling of irregularities.

1984-1988 Co-builder of Experimental light aircraft (Moni, LN-GMX).

1975, 1976 Norwegian Champion in precision pattern flying for RC airplanes.
